THIS IS MY STORY
What I believe…
I believe that the jewelry you wear is an expression of who you are. You wear it to make a statement. You wear it to pull an outfit together. You wear it because it was a gift from a loved one. Whatever your reason, I believe jewelry should always make you feel confident, connected and loved.
K Kay Designs is built from a heart of faith and trust. It is built on the hopes of helping others to feel happy, adored, comforted, loved, and blessed. It is built from the simplicity of my small town roots; a place where honesty and integrity count for a whole lot.
My design style…
K Kay Designs jewelry is refreshing, simple and timeless.
I mainly design with silver, gold, diamonds and other precious and semi-precious gemstones and source my materials from socially conscious and conflict-free suppliers.
I use age-old jewelry-making techniques and tools to create a unique marriage between contrasting styles and materials. It’s where luxury meets unrefined.
With its signature mixed-metal design, my jewelry is versatile enough to create several different looks from a handful of pieces, yet bold enough to wear each piece on its own.
Born and raised in small-town Minnesota, I first fell in love with jewelry when, at age 19, I moved to the big city and stumbled upon a jewelry store that sold just jewelry making supplies. The seeds were immediately planted. I bought supplies and dove right into exploring how to design jewelry.
You know when you find that thing that makes the world a little brighter? When your soul feels like a bird being released from a cage? That nudge that says, “this is it”?…
One day a friend told me of a guy he knew that was in school for jewelry design and wanted to sell us some sterling silver rings.
Wait. What? There’s a school for that?? Sign. Me. Up. I can still feel the exact elation that burst from my entire being that day when I learned of this new opportunity before me. The bird flew the coop!
But, life took hold and I put that interest on the back burner for 14 years—when as fate would have it, I was laid off from my job as a catering manager. Finally, the nudge could no longer be ignored. I went back to school to learn the skills of a professional metal-smith and jewelry designer. It felt like a risky move at the time, but seeing a smile swoop across a customer’s face when they put on a piece of my jewelry, receiving gushing notes after she said “yes” and knowing that my jewelry could become an heirloom passed down for generations—I know I am on the right path.
What a blessing to be a small part in someone else’s story!
A little more about me…
I love Jesus, Janis Joplin, Edy’s grape popsicles, hysterically laughing, and vintage campers.
